IN 1953 Trumark® was the first to use high-quality, dipped latex (non-extruded) tubing as "powerbands" on slingshot frames made from round metal rods. All Trumark slingshots are powered by surgical tubing. The tubing is attached to the leather pouch with light-weight, hollow, pin-connectors. Any striations in the tubing run parallel ==== to the length of the band for maximum power. NOTE: Most overseas produced slingshot tubing is extruded so that the striations occur as "rings" that are perpendicular to the entire length of the tubbing. This production IIIIIIII method decreases the "snappyness" of the band considerably. See Striation Pictures for details on dipped as compared with extruded bands. Trumark's RR-2 powerbands are made from the best quality, pure latex-rubber, and are jacketed with black rubber for ultimate protection against damaging Ulraviolet light rays. This manufacturing procedure makes them the most durable slingshot bands ever. (You may also condition your RR-2 bands even more against the elements with 303 Aerospace Protectant.) They will last you a lot more shooting sessions with a minimum loss of power. With a small amount of drug-store rubbing alcohol the bands can be installed on Trumark slingshots, or most other brand slingshots with round prongs, without the use of tools, strings, or glue. The RR-2 bands pull considerably harder than RR-1 normal pull bands, and are recommended more for hunting than general target practice. The advantage of the heavier pull bands is that it will shoot the larger 3/8" ammo farther than normal-pull bands so there is more impact when the ammo strikes the target. Also, since the wall thickness is 1/64" thicker, the bands will last longer than the normal pull bands. - the disadvantage of heavy pull is that it tends to wear out your arm a little faster! Both left and right bands are cut from one length of tubing so that they are "matched" (balanced) for accurate shooting. *CAUTION:* Powerbands that are folded and packaged curled up will take on a "set", and will not shoot very accurate when installed.
